10.31.2010: day 248

Another shadowy character.

10.30.2010: day 247

Spooky...

10.29.2010: day 246

I had dinner with friends tonight. They had all sorts of intriguing objects in their house. I liked the glasses on the mask. All the better to see you with... heehee.

10.28.2010: day 245

Shadows on the wall (mid afternoon).

And, then I did a little sky watching around 6 pm. The clouds were varied and playful.

10.27.2010: day 244

I found this guy today, halfway up the door jamb. He was encased in a little web cocoon.

10.26.2010: day 243

Dude...So, I was at a stoplight, and the first thing I read was The Dude Abides...
I've seen the movie a few times, but was still surprised I instantly knew it had to be from
The Big Lebowski. And who knew there was even a Lebowskifest?? Funny.

10.25.2010: day 242

This evening's sky. I heard rumor of a rainbow, but didn't see it.
The sky was still pretty spectacular!

10.24.2010: day 241

I found this sweater again recently. It's vintage 50s. My Aunt Marinell was the original owner. I like the fact that it's still in decent condition and I continue to wear it every so often.
That there is one long-lasting cardigan!

10.23.2010: day 240

A little pumpkin carving.
Rrraawwwrrr! Oooohhhh!

10.22.2010: day 239

So, this afternoon, I walked into the woodshop. It was dark, except for a single light shaft illuminating this plug lockout. Bright and beautiful. The profundity of the everyday...

10.21.2010: day 238

I am entertained when things like this happen.
One of the first images you see when you walk into the Andrews Gallery this month is a print by Brett Anderson: Florid Funk and Swagger. (Detail above.)
It seems to have attracted some unusual visitors to the gallery...

(in the background are some of Steve A. Prince's prints.)

10.20.2010: day 237

A little doodling from yesterday when I was on the phone with V.
It seems my pro wrestling name is Silver Assassin. Who knew?
If only my pro wrestling alter ego was also a pro electrician...

10.19.2010: day 236

Just this evening, I realized the crepe myrtle in the yard was nearly bare. It's fall.

10.18.2010: day 235

A closeup of one of my student's dowel projects. (We had critiques this morning.)
They built body extensions, something they physically interacted with, or wore.

10.17.2010: day 234

A little embroidery for a Sunday afternoon.
One of these things is not like the other...
(And, I just noticed the similarity to the pink donut from yesterday. Funny.)

10.16.2010: day 233

It's been a long time since I had one of these. They didn't used to come covered in little nonpariels. Crunchy, sugary goodness right there. Although, it's not a warm cider donut. Not even close. Mmm... cider donuts...

10.15.2010: day 232

 Mmm....nice and crispy...

10.14.2010: day 231

Ah, yes, another moon and sky photo. I like the moon and the sky, especially when they're a nice surprise. It's been raining all day, and I left work and it was clear and the half moon was out. Nice. (And, I couldn't decide which image I liked best, so posted both, although I currently favor the top one.)

10.13.2010: day 230

So... I forgot to take a photo today.... woke up the next morning thinking about it. So, I grabbed my phone and took this. They're the cheesy curtains I made last year, that will soon become something other than curtains, because I'm making new (potentially more boring, and definitely more plain jane) curtains. I like this fabric, though....so I'll find something else to do with it.

10.12.2010: day 229

Mmm...nap...

10.11.2010: day 228

After a tasty lunch with my friend, Julie, I went to the National Geographic Museum. I saw some lovely photographs and listened to some bird songs and music based on said birds. As I walked through the courtyard, I noticed the reflection on the stone. I like how the surface disappears.

Then...I got to go to a Capitals game! (They're no Red Wings, but...I did get to wear red...and they played a good game.) It came right down to the last 30 seconds of overtime, and they won. Whoo!

10.10.2010: day 227

Ahhh....organization....

10.9.2010: day 226

This may not be an exciting photo to anyone else, but, let me tell you, it's amazing to me. This floor hasn't been seen in a very long time. (This was not by choice.) I had a person-sized artwork laying there with nowhere to go, and had almost lost hope of ever recovering half of my bedroom. But, today was the day. I got rid of, and rearranged, a whole bunch of stuff, and was able to get the artwork under my bed. Wahoo!
Floorspace reclaimed!

10.8.2010: day 225

Beautiful sunny day outside making a nice shadow on the floor.
It's pointing toward the door, telling me to go finish work so I can go outside
and enjoy the day.

10.7.2010: day 224

Proofreading needed...
I almost missed it, but found myself reading it over again. Ah ha! Gotcha!

10.6.2010: day 223

I found a haunted ghost tree...kind of puts me in a Halloweeny sort of mood.

10.5.2010: day 222

My latest little ditty of a remnant poem.
The original text read: The Art of Observation
Other permutations I considered included Art rat, and Art ion....

10.4.2010: day 221

This guy has been hanging around for days. I like his geometric shape.
He's like a little armored dinosaur bug.

10.3.2010: day 220

That is one big foot!

(at National Harbor)

10.1.2010: day 218

This week, after not having rain for a very long time, we got 13 inches in two days.
The courtyard sitting area turned into a pond.

9.30.2010: day 217

I like how, when I first get in the shower, little beads of water stick to my arm hairs.
