8.27.2010: day 183
Part of my (freshly washed) t-shirt collection.
It's funny, I used to really like goofy t-shirts when I was around twelve. My favorite, which my youngest sister may still have somewhere, had a flamingo on it, of all things. (It was a cartoon by Boynton.) I wore that thing all the time. And then at some point, I decided goofy t-shirts weren't cool. Maybe I've made peace with my uncoolness, or maybe I just don't care whether I'm cool or not. Because, doggone it. I get a giggle every morning I put one of those suckers on.

8.22.2010: day 178
It rained most of last night and this morning, and our campsite was a lagoon by the time we got up. (Luckily, Dad and Barb's tent was on higher ground and didn't flood.) Since it was raining, we decided to go to the Virginia Aquarium. My niece and nephew had a great time watching the animals. I did too. I miss diving.
8.21.2010: day 177
Dad and Barb came to town last night, and this morning we drove to Virginia Beach. They're camping with my step-sister and their family for the week. Dad, Barb, and I arrived before the others, so we went down to the beach, had a great lunch (mmm...fish tacos...) and then wandered along the boardwalk for awhile. We dipped our toes in the Atlantic and eventually went back to the campground to hang out with the rest of the camping folks.

8.12.2010: day 169
I took a little detour this afternoon and stopped by the Skyline Caverns. Pretty darn cool, if I do say so myself. (Literally, and visually: it's a constant 52 degrees down there.) It gives you an entirely different perspective on the lifespan of things. Amazing.
8.11.2010: day 168
I've been watching this spider for a couple of days. At first I thought it was a huge one (by MI standards). But, when I checked on it again this morning, I realized it had been wrapping up another spider as food. Yum? No. Don't think so. But even though I generally dislike spiders, I try to leave them alone unless I'm in danger of being bitten, or are poisonous and could potentially bite me. Happy meal, Spider (as long as it's not me.)
8.9.2010: day 166
I had dinner with friends tonight. One of our friends doesn't have a computer right now. She (and her husband (Oh Great Doctor)) recently hooked up wireless internet, but have yet to get a computer. So...we were picking on her...at most possible opportunities... heehee... Reason: most of the time when we set up gatherings, we do it via email and she keeps missing out accidentally, because she isn't in the email loop... Either we need to change and make a habit of calling her. Or. She needs to get a computer. Yep.

Nope! It's fireworks!
Yay fireworks!
(I feel like I should get some pom poms and do a cheer or something...)

Here's the story: Dinner at friends'. (Thanks K and E!) We sat and chatted out on their screened-in porch. Around 10pm we got to watch a lovely little fireworks show,
thanks to Dearborn's Homecoming Festival a few blocks away.
Good food, good conversation, good fireworks, good evening.

Yep. It's a keeper.
Whomever invented the fan is too.
(That would be Schuyler Skaats Wheeler in 1886.) Thank you Mr. Wheeler.
